Faculty & Staff

Our staff members are passionate about teaching students about the world and God.

Mrs. Crystal Woehlecke
Principal

“Children are created in the image of God with a unique and intentional purpose. Each child is an individual—wonderfully made—bringing their own gifts, personality, and perspective into the world. No two children are the same, and that is by design. Their uniqueness reflects the creativity and love of God.

Every child is important. They are not only valued by God, but they also bring something meaningful to those around them. Through their eyes, we see the world differently—often with greater wonder, honesty, and joy. Children remind us how to have fun, how to love freely, and how to embrace life with curiosity and openness. They contribute so much simply by being who they are.

I love God and desire to follow His will for my life. He has placed within me a deep passion for education and for working with children. I feel called not only to teach, but also to share the love of Jesus with teachers, students, and their families. My heart is for them to know Christ personally and to grow in a relationship with Him. Children often model a kind of faith that challenges and inspires us. As it says in Matthew 18:3–4, “Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.”

I am especially passionate about Christian education, where faith and learning come together. I believe it provides a powerful opportunity to help children understand their identity in God, recognize their gifts, and live out their purpose. My goal is to support, encourage, and guide students in both their academic growth and their spiritual journey.”

Mrs. Kathy Hawes
Grades 3 & 4 Teacher

“I believe children carry open hearts, ready to receive and reflect the world around them. They rise to the expectations set before them, like sponges absorbing the values, words, and actions that surround them. Within them is a remarkable capacity to reflect Christ’s love, generosity, and grace. They forgive freely, without hesitation, and in doing so remind us of the simplicity we often outgrow. In their presence, we are called to be better — to grow, to soften, and to lead with intention.

I also believe that faith and academics are not separate paths, but ones that intersect to shape the whole child. True learning is not only the pursuit of knowledge, but the formation of godly character, wisdom, and purpose. I am grateful to work at Valley Christian School because it is an incredible opportunity to serve in an environment where Christian faith is intentionally woven into every area of learning, and because I genuinely love the students and staff who make it such a special place. In this setting, intellectual growth and spiritual development strengthen one another, preparing children not only for success, but for lives of meaning and service.

As Scripture reminds us, “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old, he will not depart from it.” (Proverbs 22:6)

Mrs. Cynthia McIntyre
Grades 5 & 6 Teacher

“I believe every student enters the classroom as a child created in the image of God, intentionally designed with a unique purpose. Each learner is gifted by God with abilities that are meant to be discovered, nurtured, and developed. Because of this inherent worth, it is essential that every student knows they are deeply loved, valued, and created with intention. In a Christian classroom, education is not only about academic growth but also about spiritual formation. I view each student as a whole person – developing emotionally, cognitively, socially, and spiritually. Like an intricate puzzle still being formed, each child is growing into who God has created them to be. My role as an educator is to guide and support that process with patience, grace, and truth.

I seek to create a classroom environment that reflects Christ’s love, where students feel safe, respected, and encouraged to grow. This includes integrating faith into daily learning, modeling Christ-like character, and helping students understand how their gifts can be used to serve others and glorify God. Through both instruction and relationships, I aim (with God’s help) to help students grow not only in knowledge, but in wisdom, faith, and purpose. I teach because God called me to teach. I teach because God has called me to teach. I teach because I believe every child is created by God with purpose and potential, and I want to help them discover that, grow in it, and use it to make a difference. I teach because God has given me great joy and wonder in how He has made each individual and how the brain learns.”

“I believe every child is created in the image of God and designed with a unique purpose. Each student possesses individual gifts, talents, and ways of learning, and it is both my responsibility and my calling to recognize these strengths and help them grow. My desire as a teacher is to help every child understand his or her inherent worth and to experience the love of Jesus in a meaningful way. I acknowledge that children, like all people, are born with a sinful nature and are in need of a Savior. Part of my role is to guide them toward recognizing that need and to encourage them in developing a personal relationship with Jesus, God the Father, and the Holy Spirit.

I am committed to helping students view the world through the lens of Scripture, grounding their understanding in biblical truth. In the classroom, I strive to meet each child where they are — academically, spiritually, emotionally, and socially — and support their growth in all areas. My goal is to cultivate an environment where students feel safe, valued, and encouraged to develop their God-given abilities.

Ultimately, my teaching is an act of service: to nurture each child’s potential, to point them toward Christ, and to equip them to live with wisdom, purpose, and faith.

Preschool Teacher

“I believe children are a gift from God, created with purpose and value, and each one deserves to be treated with love, patience, and respect. Children are naturally curious and eager to learn, and that curiosity is part of how God designed them to grow and understand the world. I also believe children are deeply impacted by how adults treat them. When caring adults take interest in children, listen to them, and support their strengths, children gain confidence, a sense of belonging, and are more willing to learn.

My motivation for being a teacher comes from my own experiences as a student and my natural ability to connect with children. I had teachers who created safe, supportive classrooms that helped me feel protected and confident, and I want to create that same environment for my students.”

“I believe all children are “fearfully and wonderfully made,” as David proclaimed in Psalm 139:14. Each child has a unique personality, with individual talents and weaknesses, yet every one of them is a wonderful work of God. When I focus on what my students do well, they gain confidence, and their skills and knowledge grow in every area.

Children are naturally trusting and tend to believe what the adults in their lives tell them. They accept what parents and teachers teach—sometimes even when it is not true. I teach in a Christian school so that I can teach children the truth about God: that He is real, though unseen, and that He is the Creator of all nature and all people.

At Valley Christian School, I also have the opportunity to teach students about God’s magnificent, unconditional love. He loves them more than they can imagine—so much that He sent His Son to pay the price for sin. Because of that sacrifice, they can be forgiven and have a personal relationship with God.

I love children and enjoy working with them in many areas of my life. I love their sense of wonder, their eagerness to learn, and the joy they experience when they discover something new. Most of all, I love when they learn the true significance of Jesus’ life and understand how He can impact and transform their own lives.

Jesus said, “Go and make disciples… teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” Teaching in a Christian school gives me the opportunity to do exactly that—to help make disciples. I am privileged to teach children how to be saved and to help them grow in their understanding of Jesus, God, and His creation.

I work alongside an amazing group of Christians who bless my life in countless ways. I began working at Valley Christian School to serve God, but He has used this school to give me so much in return. Valley Christian School has enriched my life in ways I never expected, and I am thankful for the opportunity to teach there. “

Mrs. Connie Krueger
Middle School/ High School Teacher

“I believe that every child is innately good, created by God with purpose and value. Children are a gift, entrusted to the care of adults who will love them, guide them, and believe in them — especially in the moments when they struggle to believe in themselves. I think that even children who are hurting and acting out are not “problems to solve” but souls in need of compassion, patience, and understanding. Their behavior reflects wounds, not worth. I believe that each child is uniquely gifted, by a loving Heavenly Father. Every child has strengths wating to be nurtured, curiosity wating to be sparked, and a deep desire to learn – especially when learning connects to their interests and sense of wonder. At the heart of my belief is this: Children thrive when they are known, loved, and encouraged.

I teach because I find joy in helping students discover joy — joy in learning, joy in understanding, joy in seeing the world with new eyes. Teaching for me, is not just academic instruction. It is a calling. Through every subject – literature, history, science, math – I see opportunities to point students toward the Creator of heaven and earth, helping them recognize truth, beauty, order, and purpose in the world around them.

I teach because:

– I want students to feel seen and valued; -I want them to grow in confidence and character;

-I want them to experience the delight of learning something new; -I want to guide them toward the One who made them and loves them. Ultimately, I teach because I believe education is a sacred partnership: helping children grow into the people God designed them to be.

Mr. Jim Ellison
Middle School/ High School Teacher

“I believe kids are searching for truth– something solid they can build their lives upon– and I’m passionate about helping them find it through my work as a math teacher at VCS. I love sharing not only knowledge and mathematical concepts, but also life experiences and biblical truth that points to the ultimate source of wisdom. My hope is to be a positive influence in their lives, modeling integrity, patience, a bit of silliness, and a love for learning while guiding them toward a deeper understanding of God’s order and design in creation.

Middle and high schoolers can certainly be a challenge at times, but I genuinely enjoy their youthfulness, energy, and unique perspectives. There’s something special about watching them grow in confidence as they grasp new ideas and begin to see how math reflects the logical, consistent nature of our Creator. Being part of their journey is both rewarding and purposeful, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to invest in the next generation.”

Mr. Don Hill
Wood shop Teacher

“I started in the teaching profession. I taught for 19 years and Jesus took me out of teaching to save me from self-destruction. Jesus has now asked me to go back into teaching and Valley Christian School has given me that chance.

I see the need for kids to have a woods class. Best of all, I will be teaching my own grandchildren. A teacher is a teacher who can look in a child’s eyes and behold the sparks of understanding and run with it.”
