Middle School

Jim comes to us as a retired E & C Technician from the pipeline.  He is Veteran who proudly served his country while exploring the world. Mr. Ellison serves as an elder, Sunday schoolteacher, life group host, and in any capacity that he is able to at his local church.  Jim has a heart to serve others as well as see others grow in Christ.  Jim currently has his substitute permit, but has the heart of a teacher, stepping up to do all the things that a regular teacher would and so much more.  This will be Jim's second year at Valley Christian School.  

• After owning our own bakery and grill we were blessed with three wonderful girls.  Later we sold the business, and I began working as a payroll clerk; during this time, I was asked to teach children's church at our local church.   I had felt very unqualified to be teaching kiddos about the Lord.  Sometimes when we least expect it God changes our path.  He then took me on a journey to becoming a teacher.  
• Shortly after subbing/teaching as a Middle School Technology teacher I was able to finish my teaching degree in 2013.  We then moved to Torrington where I began subbing and received my endorsement for Title 1 reading.  The following year I was hired at St. Joseph's Children's home as the elementary educator.  I spent 1. 5 years there learning a lot about trauma and how it affects children. 
•  I finished off the second year as a part time Title 1 Math interventionist.  My third year of teaching began at Valley Christian School as the 2nd and 3rd grade teacher where I spent 3 years.  I then moved to 4th and 5th for an additional 2 years and have now settled in to be the resident technology teacher and part-time Middle School teacher this will be my second year in doing so.  Over the summer I was able to finish my STEM courses to obtain my endorsement so I can utilize that in the classroom.  God has shown me so much in the last 8 years of being a teacher and I look forward to many more.
